The graphics are excellent. The gameplay is pretty good but there was a floatiness that felt a little weird. I kept running into the enemies and getting hurt, it might be nicer to have it where the enemies have an attack they wind up for and hit you with instead of it being just based on colliding with them. The intro cutscene was very cool.

The intro cutscene is a great way to set the tone for the game. It was short and effective and then threw me right into the action.

The art looks fantastic - the hand-painted look really makes the game stand out in a crowd, especially for a game jam. It also feels good to control - lots of games with beautiful hand-crafted art and animation suffer from sluggish/wonky controls, and this is not the case here at all! The other visual effects also complement the art, particularly the glowing projectiles and sword slashes.

The gameplay loop is solid here, and I appreciate that the different enemies had different behaviors and attacks, not just reskins of the basic baddie.

The projectile attack felt a little unpredictable and stiff, but that's a very minor compliant. I also wish that fighting enemies with no upgrades was a little more satisfying, but I totally understand that it's important to contrast the late-game power fantasy.

Well done!!

the amount of different stats you could change is crazy goddamn, and even better is that changing them actually changed the way i was playing and thinking too, props on the design

Loved the music!!! The sword width and length mechanics were very fun to build around. Lots of replayability here. It might be nice if the other enemy types could show up without choosing their penalties.
