I got bored and there was no character custimization
While the game itself is visual-novel simple, the premise is intriguing and the execution is well-done; there are a surprising number of branching paths and possible endings that can be affected by how you influence the main character and I was interested enough to keep playing to see more of them, though I admit that intentionally giving bad advice to see the "bad routes" did make me feel guilty. I would have liked a little more explanation about how we-the-player is projecting themselves into that world - is it a game where some characters have become self-aware? - it was largely secondary to the main point of the narrative, which is the interaction between the main character and you, the disembodied voice in his head.
The art got the job done and the character art was often distinctly Ghibli-esque, which is a positive thing though it contrasted sharply with the darker undertones of the game's world. It was a new approach to the already-limited field of games where the 'player' directly interacts with the main character, with said main character taking an almost acolyte-like role to the player, and I enjoyed my multiple playthroughs despite the fact that some branches were difficult to map out, which proved a little frustrating. I had a lot of fun with My Dear Player, My Dear God and I hope to see more of this kind of meta-interaction-based games in general.
Good, if a little bare bones. The magic stirring mini-game starts to grate and feel like padding on further playthroughs when trying to see everything. Otherwise very nice, very gay, and good
I personally loved that project; the art and the development of the story, it's pretty good! I can't wait to see more!
