The game works pretty well, it lacks a bit of juiciness. I'd rather see the enemies flash red when hit than seeing how much damage I dealt, since I don't know how much health they have.
The rhythm part is cool, but three things:
- In that kind of game, where you have to watch for enemies trying to hit you or shoot at you, I think it's hard to focus on the symbols scrolling at the bottom of the screen. So you might want to indicate the beat in a way that can be perceived from all around the screen. It could be the light around the character or the border of the screen as in Patapon.
- I had no idea what the symbols were for. At some point I think I understood that the yellow ones are for the katana and the red ones for the kick. Simpler icons (like a katana and a foot) would have done the trick (I just saw the tutorial on the page ^^').
- The timing felt a bit off tempo. It might be because the only thing indicating the beat are the symbols scrolling.
No big deal, but the character does not aim for the mouse, but slightly to its left ^^'
All that being said, I like the idea, the game works fine and I like the music. The visuals are cool as well. They make me think of and old flash game ^^' Honestly, if you really did everything alone in 2 or 3 days, well done!
wow fighting is so juicy
