GOOD GAME LIKE IT

Submitted

I'm a sucker for the PS1 era games and honestly, this is really good. I was enjoying this so much I wish it was longer. I did experience a bug where after exiting the room with the dying guy. The camera had never left the room and I was killed by the monster outside. But other than that it was a very smooth experience. Amazing job and keep up the good work

Your attention to detail is incredible. My Player talks about dartboards! Is this limited to the first room? Even in the initial cut scene, you have sound going off, for the man's clothing and stuff. It's really well thought through. I like the ambient sound. The aesthetic looks great! For the bad ending idk if this was intention but the guy just sounds like a bunch of sounds turning on and off, I would recommend smoothing them whenever you get a chance! Great project though!

I loved it! I love the PS1 aesthetic. I did both endings but i didn't find how to use the combine button in the inventory. The monsters were stressful to be around, event if they weren't that scary. the main thing that the game lacks is explicit lore in my opinion.

The silent hill vibe is definitely channeled here. A bit of customization of your own to the vibe would be great. You also completely nailed the aesthetics as well.

thanks man :)

This is quite neat, it really brings me back to my childhood. I can see a lot of potential for your full project, though as Pixel mentioned, I do think it would be better to develop more of your own story (or find a writer to work with if you'd prefer) rather than rely too much on Silent Hill. You can make an homage to those games with the mechanics and visual style while still making something your own. Good luck on the rest of your game c:

Thanks for your inspiring words, would definitely make the environment more original from now on.

This is a tricky one. This was well-done, I have some gripes with it but I'll get to that in a moment. Looking through your twitter and patreon it looks like you totally recycled everything, even down to character assets, from your main project into this. This is a bit disappointing.

As for the game itself - its well made, and on a technical level very solid. That being said I think it could be alot more creative. You're obviously trying to remake Silent Hill, but this - stylistically - lacks alot of what made Silent Hill so special. You're clearly very talented and I think it would be alot more interesting to see you inject your own creative voice into a project like this. I look forward to following along on your main project

Thanks for the feedback, maybe I have misunderstood the rules a bit when I joined the jam. I focused too much on "HOWEVER, USING PARTS OF EXISTING ASSETS/PROJECTS TO MAKE SETTING UP EASIER IS FINE! PREMADE/BOUGHT ASSETS ARE COOL IF YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO USE 'EM TOO! " but kinda disregard the "SUBMISSIONS FOR THE JAM SHOULD BE ORIGINAL". I'll build something from scratch next jam. Thanks again.
