Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • The game sounds like an interesting idea. However, it could not be played as the shortcut gave an error and did not launch the game.

  • There is really nothing here. I did not view the updated game since that would give the creator an unfair advantage over other entrants who submitted on time.

  • The core gameplay concept is simple and well implemented. This game has a lot of potential to expand if you get the foundations right. Here are a few small things which you can do to greatly improve your current version of the game.

    - Having the ability to expand the size of the game window. I was running it on a QHD Laptop and the game window was taking a quarter of my screen
    - Using "Enter"/"Space" key for start instead of R
    - Having an onboarding tutorial on how the player can progress in the game.
    - Design/setup the UI for the game in such a way that the player gets feedback when he makes a wrong/right move.
    - Fix up the shortcut to run the game and get the users to run the release exe (which is generally faster).

  • The game is very simple, although can still be quite fun.
Something as simple as some fast music would add a sense of urgency and make the game much more fun.

The concept and complexity is very limited, but seems relatively unique and well implemented.

The code is simple and short, but is quite tidy and organised.
Don't use strings for direction case statements though! Use an enum :)

  • Feedback

Although the first submission does not appear to be functional I was able to try the later version which I am pleased to say was considerably better.  The gameplay itself is quite simple, I found navigating from different colour blocks while memorizing which colour belongs to which direction was challenging but I was able to get a fair score.  I felt some sounds would have helped give the game a bit more atmosphere or help break the silence, its always nice to have some sounds in the game to keep the player busy.

Your UI is simple but straight forward and when the game ends when the timer finishes it takes me back to the main menu, while this function sounds simple it can be something that is easily overlooked but in this case it works ok.  Sadly I could not find any documentation showing the stages of construction so I could not see how you actually made the game.

    Summary

Although the game is quite simple and lacks sounds it is overall a complete build from start to finish, I would say the major components are there and its just the little details that could add to the game that are needed.  There is certainly room for improvement but then again there always will be in game development.  As a YouTuber and game developer myself we consider it a pleasure to try your games and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to try your game.
