Theme Generation Example

In case there's any confusion about how the theme generation works, I'm going to post our group's and provide a little bit of context about what we might do with it.

Our programming pattern is the Subclass Sandbox, and the chapter provides examples of how this can be used to quickly develop and easily create multiple Superpowers in a game. Nothing strikes me immediately about how this might influence our design, but I will try to model our game design in such a way that we can implement this pattern, probably to provide subclass flexibility to some Unity Components that we use.

Our Game Design Lens is The Lens of Balance, which focuses not only on whether the game is mechanically balanced but also ensures that the game feels right. We may also try to include balance as a core tenant of our game design, possibly making a game where players can pick their own collection of "powers" (from our pattern), but at some other cost, so they have to balance their loadouts before each round.

Our Sustainable Development goal is Decent Work and Economic Growth, which focuses on income inequality around the world. This nicely ties in with our design lens of balance, and gives us a lot of directions to take to highlight this issue and put the player in the shoes of either someone affected by poverty, or  we can demonstrate through game mechanics actions that people can take in their day to day to help, or it may even become core to our game to solve these issues directly.

These are the core tenants that are going to make up our game design, but we don't have anything concrete in mind yet. My team is going to spend the next little while divvying up tasks and deciding exactly what we can turn these into, and we'll post updates either here or as Devlogs on our game page.

Happy Jamming! :)
