My first impression of Skyrealms was that it was pleasant, but for kids. It had a lot of random tables with results such as "Vomit flowers for one day." That is to say, it is more tailored to fantastic childish imagination than to Big Serious GamingTM.

My impression was not wrong, but once I played the two solo adventures that come with this base game (one is just labelled "solo adventure," and the other suggests it can be played solo or one-on-one with a GM), my concerns were pushed aside to make way for fun. The adventures were organized in creative ways, not quite dungeon crawls or hexcrawls, but making good use of randomness. I did give myself permission to come up with reasons why I did not lose progress when I had a long run of bad luck, though. Also, to give it more of an edge, I did play with the suggested stats for Troika!, even though Skyrealms can work as a choose-your-own adventure with no particular system. The Troika! stats, alongside some for DURF, Cairn, and Dungeon Crawl Classics, are found in a PDF with Google Doc links, which makes editing easy, though it would be nice if they were permanently in the PDF, too. 

So, I do think players will find progress through Skyrealms's adventures enjoyable. The game also promotes itself as a colouring book, and I did not engage with that except where the solo adventure makes clever use of the concept, but the art is charming as it stands.
