The sprites are quite good--the protagonist reminds me of Chihiro from Spirited Away. I thought the writing was quite good as well--it set a really nice creepy-melancholic tone. It's a little story, but effective.

Hey! I liked this, it's an interesting one cuz of like how the different choices change the framing of the protagonists' relationship with mermaids. It feels like each ending you unlock adds a little more to what seemed to be a very simple confrontation. You did a good job!

Great job! I saw some of the last-minute troubles in the Discord, and am definitely glad you were able to get this in on time - well worth!! The multiple endings are interesting, and the colors do a good job of creating that spooky, ocean-at-night feel. I'm also impressed by the number of cutaway illustrations / close-ups you have - it really adds something to the design!!

Writing: I like the story, and the choices too. There were a few words I looked up in a dictionary, but it didn’t seem like anything was hard to read on purpose. And the characters were interesting too.

I’m not sure if I’ve got all the endings, but I noticed that one of the endings happens and then gets followed by another ending that appears after it’s already shown the ending letter, so I got two endings in a row without me doing anything to go back. So you might want to look at that part were Aia asks Chiyoko if she regrets something and the second answer shows two endings in a row.

Theme: Scary and supernatural, so I think it fits. Some of it was scary enough that I took a break rather than read everything in one go. (And for some reason I find it scarier to harm Aia than Chiyoko, probably because in real life I’m often more scared of harming others than of getting harmed by them).

Audio: The music is pretty good, and fits the story and the characters. And it also seems it can play similar things in different moods to follow the story. I do notice there’s some place where the music “jumps” when looping, but I don’t really think that’s much of an issue (making it never “jump” like that would probably either require silence at the start and end of the piece or it would require some extra programming work to get Ren’Py to hide the transition).

I don’t think there were a lot of sound effects. Maybe there could have been a small splash when the text says “with a small splash”. And some of the endings could also use sound effects (maybe all of them could, now that I think about it). I sorta wonder if Aia’s chuckle could have been a sound effect. I guess it could. (Or it could be voice acting, but I see most VNs from this jam haven’t added VA, and I can sorta see why: it takes quite a bit of planning, can’t easily change the text after recording, and if you don’t get the editing right some characters might get too loud or quiet compared to each other.)

Art: I think the art is pretty good. Especially the sprites. It even manages to keep things easy to see while still looking like it’s night (yeah, there was some VN where I had to turn up my screen brightness to see stuff in night scenes). There’s only two characters, but there’s plenty of expressions and poses.

I do notice the UI isn’t customized much, but it does seem to fit the art, so it’s not really a big deal. And I actually prefer using the default font over changing it to something hard to read.

Fun: I liked the story. And yeah, as someone who avoided eating some mutton meat because I preferred seeing sheep alive and grazing, I kinda didn’t want Aia to get eaten (I almost preferred Chiyoko getting eaten since at least that was Aia making the decision and not me). But I still liked the choices and seeing the different endings.

What I liked best: The story and art.

What I’d have done differently: Probably add sound effects.
