- This was an entertaining game. I like the inclusion of voice acting and the animation is cool. Game balance could use work and it was hard to understand what was going on.
- The very first thing I proposed upon becoming a mod was to ban you immediately. Nothing you have ever done since then has made me want to kill you any less, "my liegi." Every crash further tormented my sanity. Every bizarre bug across your many notorious projects further fragmented my unstable mental state. The reason why humanity will not reach heaven, hell, or achieve carcinization is solely because you corrupted our potential long before we ever thought we'd get there.
- The best story never to be told, this kind of absolute headscratcher of a meme game is the best reason for something like SRPG Studio to exists... to tap into the infinite potencial of creative gaming... sadly, every jam needs an entry that just couldn't make it and had to ship in a clearly unfinished state and we may never get to see the true story of the Superstar brothers. I say this is clearly unfinished due to the quality of the map which seems to be on the draft stage, and due to the rushed ending. Specially because not only does a final boss appear with no other enemies, but also a bunch of guys are added to our units that I have no clue who they are... but they had cool skills so it was an interesting way of making a skill showcase. Any way the best thing this games has is the stupid humor, I just love stuff like this, it made my laugh a lot. Then the music and sounds is just crazy, the "character grunts" are nonsensical and I didn't get any of it, but is a nice feature to see implemented, and the super star brother where fully voiced, even if I didn't get one word because they talk in Italian. Also, the opening scene is so cool, I loved the "stuck on the ground" part. The map plays fairly well and straight forward until the moment reinforcements start appearing like crazy, then it got difficult, but it actually made me think for a bit so it was good, but then the boss just appear and it ends. I don't know if there are any secrets on the map, there was one green unit that I couldn't get to, and 2 point on the map that looked suspicious but where so out of the way that I didn't wanna see if something happened or not. Then the theme was actually just a lie, because they say the only have sticks and pans to defend themselves, but actually everyone comes fully equipped with decent weapons... so, no time to remove them I guess? Overall a solid entry that doesn't take itself seriously at all, but has diverse and interesting skills on the units, sadly not meant for greatness due to Dankboi's team failing him (that is what the credits say at least, I don't judge... well, I actually do, that is why I write this.)
- I feel like the theme was only mildly referenced to. I turned on the NSFW but didn't stumble onto anything. It feels like I missed a lot of content or it was cut. When I reached the boss, pretty much none of my units could do anything so I just grinded Luigi up. This game really captured the feeling of the shitty internet game that made me nostalgic. I enjoyed this project, it appealed to me in its sheer strange ambitiousness. I don't think it's for a broad audience however.
- I don't think I need to explain that this game crashing so frequently was very frustrating. Even being able to save every turn wasn't enough - universal saving and/or autosaves could've redeemed it a bit, but only a bit. I got too frustrated to finish the whole game but I got far enough to get the gist of the gameplay. Considering the crashes I played for about 15-20 minutes (longer than the estimated duration) so I figure this is an alright place to stop. The gameplay was pretty ordinary gbafe-style plus skills, but the aesthetics were nicely polished for a jam game using rtp assets. Most of the jokes are in the form of memey reference humor but the implementation of Luigi's dialogue in particular was VERY funny - best use of awakening-style grunts I've ever seen.
- This is a single map FE clone with low effort humor which gets old fast, default SRPG Studio graphics and music, and no real innovations to speak of. In short, it's borderline unplayable, given how often the game crashes. It also has way too many typos, including obvious ones: for instance, the credits lists the title as "Mario & Luigi: Parters in crime." The single map is extremely easy. The only challenge with the game is mustering the patience to keep persisting through each obnoxious crash.
Expected Duration
Like 10-15 minutes, I hope not any longer
