I already have an idea for a game, so is it fine for me to start working on it now or should I wait for it to start (I'm assuming i can plan before the jam starts) 2. i saw something about a theme, is the theme just idle game or will i have to do something specific because the idea i had is slightly more unique

It's ok to start doing some basic planning, but we generally discourage people from doing too much beforehand. While the technical theme is "idle," we'll also have a creative theme! That will be announced at the kickoff. So if you do a bunch of preplanning and then find out the creative theme is "egg", it can really throw you.
