This is impressively ambitious! Definitely an original use of choicescript, which I don't think I've seen used like this before.
I did have a bit of difficulty figuring out where to find Alex a few times (especially early on) and found the "make" command a little confusing sometimes, but overall I was sucked in to this and amazed how well you managed so many complex things in under 1000 words.
Well done!

This is such an original use of ChoiceScript! Wonderful, creative, strong writing. It's incredible how much interactivity and freedom to experiment you packed into 1000 words.
Based on what you wrote in the description, it sounds like the game originally had all of Alex's dialogue, and the 'parser error' was introduced to cut it down to fit the word limit? I understand the way that represents the communication gap between human and machine, and it increases the challenge of the game. But it also makes it difficult to get a sense of Alex's character or fully follow the plot. I wonder if you would be willing to do an expanded release after the game jam? I would love to play a full / longer version of this.
Yes, you can play the full version here! :) https://dashingdon.com/play/will/ai-love-you/mygame/
Thanks for the link! I enjoyed the full version. I still haven't seen the third ending, because I just couldn't bring myself to do it... 5 degrees at a time... brutal. Great work!
Nice work!
There was one weird thing I thought I would point out. For the breakfast sequence, it seems like you *have* to make orange juice to proceed. It seems a bit odd, because the overnight bit seemed to suggest that you should make him peppermint tea (his favorite). I made the tea and his cereal, and after getting stuck I looked at the walkthrough. I tried to make eggs (insufficient materials) and then I made OJ and it worked. Not sure if this was intentional.
The walkthrough only shows one of the three endings, as it mentions. In the tutorial section it showed that "tea" translates automatically to english breakfast tea (and it reminds you of this if you try it again). If you want to make peppermint tea, you have to type out "peppermint tea"! :)
Oh--I found two of the three endings. I am very curious to find out what the third is!
Have you tried increasing or decreasing the temperature to dangerous levels? :)
Aha, that makes sense! Thanks for the reply and the clarification. :)
I got a "scene does not exist" error for this when trying to access the end scene, just as a heads up.
Must be a glitch in the way it was uploaded. I'll try it again soon.
The file that isn't compiling with the others is just a message that reads "thanks for playing the game!" btw :)
Should be fixed!! :D
