(For the review I lasted till' round 13)
By far the entry that respected the theme the most (along with Space Rescue), Battery Survivor takes on an already established genre and visually adds the 'connection' aspect with a lot of originality.
The idea is fine, but the execution seems to lack polishing. The main problem was the lack of diversity in the gameplay loop. I found myself recharging and heading out to shoot repeatedly until the round was over, only to recharge some more until my inevitable demise...
I had so many ideas for the game. Why not upgrades? Increase the recharge rate or introduce sacrificial upgrades (better recharge rate but fewer bullets, for example). Maybe turrets? Why not make it a Tower Defense / Top-down shooter hybrid.
Nevertheless, the game was complete and I understood everything very clearly.
