Welcome

The Toolmakers' Jam is a Jam for people who love making GameDev tools and want to contribute tools to the Indie GameDev community. The Main goal of this game is to encourage people to make tools for making indie games and distribute them for free, so that the people who are new to this field and students who aspire to become game devs can utilise these tools for making games.

Update: Jam's deadline has been extended by 1 day so people can add extra polish to their tools.

The rules are very simple and relaxed:

1) You can submit a tool that you create during the jam but you are also allowed to submit any existing tool that you had already created.

2) You must own the rights to the tool and shall not use any asset or code that does not belongs to you or you dont have permission for.

3) You shall make the Jam version of the tool FREE forever. although you can charge for the next versions of the tool.

You can join as an individual or as a team, just list the name of the team members during submission.

That's it.

At the end of the Jam, there will be a rating period that lasts 48 hours. Your tool will be rated on:

  • Helpfulness: How helpful your tool is for GameDevs
  • Polish: How much polished your tool is.
  • Learning Curve: People may rate your tool high or low depending upon the learning curve of your tool. Tools that are difficult to master or have clunky interface will lead to lower rankings. So try to make your tools beginner friendly or atleast add manuals or a "help" menu.
  • Overall: People's overall experience with your tool

Make sure to join the Official Discord Server of this jam at https://discord.gg/VbY8xbF7.
