BOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIII thisgame…. Amazing way to handle the theme, and really well crafted atmosphere. PD: Poor old man :c
This is Yuyuko.
Daayyyyum tho this has substance. The atmosphere and visuals speak for themselves tbh, so there's not much else I have to say about it, I absolutely love it and all its little details. I especially appreciate the bits of bleak humor among the somber parts. My biggest gripe unfortunately does come from the gameplay loop during boss fights, since you have to repeat the cutscene for seemingly no reason and some of them involve some guessing at what they're going to do. And seconded with Brogrammist's claim about the final fight being a pseudo-random endurance round that takes you out of it and kind of takes the impact away from the ending, which is a real shame since the rest of it went so strongly and I only started getting back into it at the way end of the end sequence.
Besides those honest mistakes though it's nothing short of compelling, and with a lot of little moments that feel genuine and inspired.
Ok but also UX nitpick: the text is hard to read when it's currently expanding from the center and kinda hurts my head unless I don't attempt to read it early or just click past the expanding.
My only criticism is the difficulty of the final fight which ends up muting the somber emotions I had up to that point and reminding me that I'm playing a game.
But that aside
Bro...
If having her die facing up at the end there was an intentional detail then 10/10
She's the only to die facing the sky!
The strongest suit is the writing and presentation definitely. Thank you for making this. I'm particularly fond of Yuyuko's backstory personally
Simple pixel art, but very compelling story telling and is visually stunning. I remember reading a manga about the back story of Yuyuko, which echos with what you have shown in this game.
Then moment when the on screen instruction says "Play", yet Yuyuko ends up killing the grandpa/ma with her power made me feel things (as mentioned by White Pikmin earlier).
I wish the game isn't that challenging though. I go stuck at one stage and I still can't clear the stage at this moment. Probably because I'm a bad player though. Will try again to see end of the story.
Yes, good luck with completing it and you can do it! Everything in story builds up to the ending, so I hope you can experience it fully.
Oh man, this game made me feel things... great job!
Thanks! Yuyuko's tragedy of a background story needs more love
