Props for making a VR game, was not expecting to see that in the Jam.
I had some issues at first trying to figure out on how to actually pull the spirits and only got it after reading the game page. I felt like just pointing at the balls should have been enough rather then add the down on the pad function.
Once I got the hang of it it was a very nice game to play. The sound effects were good and it was visually appealing.
First off, kudos for even attempting a VR game for a jam. The concept here was strong and builds off what VR does best. The core gameplay of swinging the scythe about and reaping some souls is quite satisfying.
I think the biggest issue keeping this from being an experience to really dive into is spatial awareness. Before I could really rack up any combos I found myself dying to a bullet coming from behind or below me. I am not sure how best to address this. Tweaking the sound effects to better indicate direction could help. Or perhaps a grace period after correctly sorting a spirit that purges bullets over the boat?
Also, the scythe spin is incredibly cool and I had trouble not using it constantly.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll be looking into actually incorporating 3D sounds and such in the next version. The grace period reward for sorting spirits is really interesting and I'll definitely think about adding something like it!
No VR in this house, so imma downvote u right across the sanzu.
Scythe control looks fun and really makes me wish I had VR gear.
I applaud your work.
Very Noice
I'm on the oculus rift and I appear to start below the boat in the main menu. After managing to somehow peek up onto the boat, hands and scythe doesn't appear to be moving... (or it's cause i'm technically still under the boat and collisions?)
I realise the majority of people don't have VR so here's a video of it in action. Hope this helps a little
For those who do have VR stuff, please check out the game page for detailed instructions on playing the game since I couldn't put it in the game in time ;_;
