Reads like something I would write when I was a 10 year old wanting to write something that was 'deep' and 'serious' and 'sad but realistic', but did not yet have actual life experience to pull from. All of the processes in here, from police work to being an orphan in the US to living with cancer are all depicted incredibly shallow. The most self aware the VN ever seems to get is when the narrator suddenly breaks the 4th wall to go 'uhhh a 25 year old hanging with a 15 year old minor? That's fishy', but then the VN never seems to actually try to address or fix the concerns outside of this awkward 4th wall break that ruins the mood and never goes anywhere.
From the odd way the characters refers to the 'East Coast' as One Specific Beach rather then an entire region and the awkward English, I suspect the dev isn't from the US? The basic premise of a linear VN that is sentimental and reflective on memories isn't inherently bad, but it's something that really requires the creator to base it on something highly personal for it to have any real impact rather then pulling tropes and ideas from other media that you don't have any personal ties to.
I admire how much effort the dev put into marketing the game, if only every dev could be so diligent. I do think some of that energy could have been put into improving the writing though, or even into editing the script so the English is less awkward.
Make this into an interactive point and click sandbox style or even harem game and you've got yourself a quality game. This is just another lame visual novel
