Very cool! I love the aesthetic of the game! The music fits the theme and art perfectly. The gameplay even fits in with the blossom theme.
Any time the dragon was on the screen I couldn't see where my petal was going, making the problem worse as the dragon took over the screen while I bumped into things behind it that I couldn't see. This was made worse anytime I had to move backwards slightly to avoid getting stuck on the branches. The backwards bits as a whole didn't really work well, the petal just often get's caught.
In it's current state you need to drag your mouse off screen to gain full control of the petal, gonna lock the mouse to the screen in the future so you should have more fluid movement when it comes to the petal. The dragon taking over the screen is an intended mechanic to push you to move faster. I am also looking at moving some branches around to make it a small bit easier to move around.
Thank you for the review!
Great music, id listen to it on some low-fi beat stations. Art was gorgeous. Simple yet very fun gameplay, i was worried about getting eaten by that dragon the whole time!
Give mine a shot if you get the chance https://itch.io/jam/vimjam2/rate/1200495
Thanks a lot, we really appreciate it. I hadn't made music for a game before so it was definitely fun to experiment and think of different ideas on how the composition should be laid out. With it being an infinite scroller, I thought a nice ambient loop would be nice to go with the theme of the game. Nothing too overpowering but enough that it kept the player feeling lively.
The game looks visually amazing!
Thank you so much!
Ok this was insanely beautiful, from the main menu to dragon, to the petals, everything was so well designed I am at a loss of words. The music was great as well. I have no idea how someone managed to get to 400 points on the pro gamer difficulty, but I am happy with my 100. I would love to see more games with Medea's art style. Awesome work!
Thank you so much! This was my first time working on a game directly, I'm hoping to create more in the future and experiment with different styles/themes. I've created little characters for a friend's game before if you want to check them out :)
Nature's Fury
The characters on Nature's Fury are pretty unique, but I am even more impressed with how much better your art has become in just 2 months? Is there a place I can follow you ? Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, anything really!
Always improving! I'm only on Instagram at the moment - @w.ytchy. I only have my personal works up right now but will update with game art too
Fun little browser game! Good job getting different difficulties and generated levels. Overall quite liked it!
I found the branches a little hard to see compared to the background - and in some cases, the generated levels on the harder difficulties made an impossible to complete section (ant blocked small path).
Wasn't able to fullscreen which caused some issue keeping the mouse in bounds - however this wasn't a big issue.
Good job pulling this together!
Hey thanks for the review!
The branches being hard to see was to add to the difficulty, didn't realise until today I could have tried locking the mouse to the screen and just increased the petal speed, I'll have to update it after the jam.
Fair enough point on the branches with the difficulty - I got used to it a bit over time. On my list to replay, so you must be doing something good!
Play this game! great browser game with a relaxing art style and music combo, and a bit of intensity on the harder difficulties
