2 of 3 (over half) the team have never participated in a game jam before, therefore novice. Our game developer has >1 year of game dev experience.

How does your game relate to the theme?
“Charmed to meet you” is a typing game where the player strives to charm monsters in a conversation, and then obtains a physical charm item upon success. We combined two definitions - as the concept of pleasing someone, and as an ornament - while leaning more into the element of ‘charm’ in a social setting. Selecting proper conversation topics is jarring as it is, but typing them under time pressure with very picky monsters is a new challenge. With our game, having charm is skill and not an inherent talent.
