Hello fellow devs, I am wanting to announce something here. I am sure there are some lurkers looking through this that aren't really participating in this event. If you are a fresh dev who hasn't actually made a game but want to, join a freaking jam.
I have been studying game development for weeks now, and could never really develop any of my own ideas before joining this event. Joining a Jam gives you a sort of guidance on what you need to do (as you have a set theme) and it allows you to narrow it down. I will say, I thought this theme would be quite difficult for new devs, but it really opened my eyes. I did take a bit of a different turn with it, but I know I tried my best and definitely learned A LOT about the game making process throughout. I am happy to say this was my first ever game, and first ever game jam that I have made / participated in. I would 1000% do this again, even if I am ranked the lowest out of everyone.
For anyone who wants to look at the game, here is the link to it. https://winclark.itch.io/scienceisfailure I'll be looking through everyone else once the review time opens up!
I want to thank you Jonas. This was an amazing experience and I look forward to next years already!
