Hi, I encountered a problem when using the itch.io app, when I have the game downloaded, I can't open save files. It says I need an app to open "itch-cave" link, but I don't know how to get this :(

Sorry, have no experience with itch.io app. I use itch.io mostly for demonstration purposes. I'd recommend playing the game on dryadquest.com or download an offline version (can be found on patreon.com/dryadquest)

I've got the same problem now, after downloading version 0.10.0 via the itch app. I'll switch to the offline version, but would lose a big chunk of progress since I cannot access my savegames. Can you tell me where those are stored, so I can copy paste them?

They should be in local storage of your browser

That's good to know, but... when I launch the game via the itch app, it neither uses Opera GX nor Firefox to play the game. It seems to be some integrated browser. And I have zero clue where that one has its local storage

Well, itch is a 3rd party company I have no affiliation with whatsoever. So, you might want to ask on their forums or try googling it.

A quick search resulted in this:

windows: %APPDATA%\itch\localStorage

mac: ~/Library/Application Support/itch/localStorage
I've no idea if it's true cause I don't have the app.

the ai suggested this, I've no idea if it works of will break something or makes any sense since I never used the itch app:

The "itch-cave" link issue you’re encountering usually stems from the Itch.io app not properly associating the protocol handler with the correct application. Here’s how you can resolve this issue:

Windows

  1. Reset Default Apps:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps.
    • Scroll down and click on Choose default apps by protocol.
    • Find itch-cave in the list and set Itch.io as the default app.
  2. Reinstall Itch.io:
    • Sometimes reinstalling the Itch.io app can re-establish the correct associations.
    • Uninstall the Itch.io app from Settings > Apps.
    • Download the latest version from the Itch.io website and install it.
