I had the honour of beta-testing Weeping Cherries and it was a very great game! And don't be fooled by the length, it is an emotional punch!
First of all, the game is very polished: the GUI is charming, the art is very well-made. The CGs are particularly good, and the sprites' expressions are also very well-made. The animations spread throughout the game also adds to the experience! The music too was absolutely gorgeous and supported the mood of the story very well!
Let's talk about the story! It is a very emotional one. Not only does the game manage to set its world and its conflicts, it also paints with remarkable precision the relationship of Kyu and Tei, and, of course, how dependent it is on the "promise" mentioned in the summary of the game.
I won't spoil it here, but the game handles a rather dark theme, but handles it amazingly: it manages, in all its variations, to keep its tone and send healthy messages, and it won't blame the players for picking options offered by the game in the first place. And yet, never does the game celebrate unhealthy patterns. A tour de force, really!
To conclude, I cannot recommend this game enough! It is well-written, sensitive, emotional, the characters are great, and it is very polished and amazing-looking! Congrats Hiro!!
