Why do people read tragedies? Why would anyone pay to experience a beautiful story, regardless of the outcome? We know the fate of Orpheus and Eurydice, Romeo and Juliet reveals the ending in the very first scene, but the stories are compelling because it’s about the journey it took to get there even if the end spells disaster. Totally get if it’s not your personal cup of tea, but let’s not proclaim the tale worthless just because you don’t get to change what it ultimately becomes.
