A Rollercoaster of Emotions: A review of 'Simulation 69'

'Simualtion 69' is an interactive visual novel that takes players on a wild ride with its humorous, meta-plot and detailed artwork. It artfully balances light-hearted entertainment with moments of deep reflection, creating an experience that is both funny and thought-provoking.

Pros:

  • Entertaining Meta Plot - The story of 'Simulation 69 is a refreshing departure from conventional visual novels. It doesn't take itself too seriously, sometimes breaking the fourth wall and engaging players in a witty, self-aware narrative. The meta aspects of the plot are cleverly executed, making the game feel like a playful commentary on the genre itself. This approach keeps the experience fresh and unpredictable, ensuring the players are constantly entertained.
  • Emotional Depth - Despite its humorous tone, 'Simulation 69' doesn't shy away from exploring deeper themes. The game seamlessly transitions from laugh-out-loud moments to scenes that provoke sadness and existential contemplation. This emotional range adds layers to the narrative, making it a rollercoaster of feelings that resonate with the players on multiple levels.
  • Great Artwork - The visual presentation of 'Simulation 69' is a standout feature. The renders are vibrant and detailed, complete with emotional expression as well as attention to detail in the surroundings. The character designs are visually appealing, and the backgrounds are rich with detail, creating an immersive visual experience that compliments the narrative.
  • Musically Appealing - The musical score of 'Simulation 69' is definitely another highlight. The soundtrack(while not specifically noteworthy) perfectly compliments the game's shifting tones, enhancing both the comedic and poignant moments. The music adds depth to the overall experience, making the emotional highs and lows even more impactful.

Cons:

  • Limited Body Type Diversity - One of the notable downsides to 'Simulation 69' is the lack of diversity in character body types. The characters tend to have very similar physiques, which can make it difficult to distinguish between them, especially in scenes with multiple characters present. The uniformity detracts from the overall visual appeal and could benefit from more variety.
  • Similar Facial Features - In addition to limited body type diversity, some of the characters' faces also share a very high degree of similarity. This can make characters feel less unique and diminish the impact of their individual personalities. Greater differentiation in facial features would enhance the distinctiveness of each character and add more depth to the visual storytelling.

Conclusion:

'Simulation 69' is an engaging and entertaining visual novel that excels in blending humor with emotional depth. Its metal plot is both funny and thought-provoking, keeping players invested from start to finish. The great artwork and impressive choices in music further enhance the experience, creating a captivating and immersive journey. However, the lack of diversity in body types and similar facial features are areas where the game could improve. Despite these minor drawbacks, 'Simulation 69' offers a memorable and emotionally rich experience that will have players laughing one minute and contemplating life's deeper questions the nex. Fans of the genre looking for a unique and entertaining story will find much to love in 'Simulation 69.'

Wait, lack of facial diversity? There's a tall black latina, Japanese-American, a creamy-skinned blonde, our thicc milf with a motherly face, a ginger with a bit of a long face, a round-faced cutie (Melanie), the pasty brat with the highlighted messy bob-ish cut, and another Lara Croft clone who stands at 5'10".

Like, none of these women look exactly the same to me lol. Tho I will say the game favors ponytail as a hairstyle.

As for body type, I somewhat see that. BUT the brat (Amy) is noticeably more slender than the others (and a shortie), Beth is thicc with some plumpness on her lower half which makes her look pear-shaped, Jennifer has the exaggerated anime proportions (as Hazel commented) and stands super tall, Bree is similar but with smaller breasts and better abs than Jen as well as a tad larger body, Mel and Hazel are sisters so they r similar (we get a good comparison in ep5) but I do notice Hazel has more chub on her butt. Miharu has a nice butt but her breasts are average in size.
But overall, they aren't all 100% the same.
