Hey PomPom!
I'm participating in a trackbuilding competition, and wanted to ask you if you are interested in doing a little bit of testing of the track to see if it is any good! The competition is anonymous, I can't post the track here, so I need to send it to you directly somehow
Ok, i just finished the track for the first time and I have a lot of feedback. I don't want to be disrespectful as this track is amazing and incredibly unique in playstyle, and I believe with a well-rounded touch-up could become a stunning track. Two main things. Shortcuts and transitions. Overall the transitions in the map are often rough and annoying to play. The very first one into the wall ride is very unique and fun to play, and I believe that you should attempt to match the feeling that you get with that wallride for the rest of the map. The very next transition down of the wallride and into the straight ramp and further down into the tunnel is very un-intuitive. As you are changing angles very quickly it causes the car to drift and be put off course. This doesn't feel right and as you enter down into the tunnel you arrive in far too late for you to catch the aesthetic path you built into it and this makes you go onto the grass and back up onto the road causing another drift often putting you into the pole. Additionally a plethora of shortcuts possible in the first section. I was thinking (obviously I don't want to build the map for you) but I think you could maybe make the wallride end a bit sooner off the ground more smoothly and into a checkpoint to nullify any potential skips. Then make the player take your nice path into the tunnel and that would make the first part of the map a lot better. Finally, while I will conclude here for now to review the map further, the head hit after the loop is very unpredictable and doesn't contribute the vibe your amazing map radiates.
Yeah, this is just what I needed, huge thanks, seriously! Of course you can make your own version, I will be glad to try it out, but I would ask you to publicly post it only after the competition concludes.
I totally get your critiques about rough transitions, and will try to make them better (further ones are even more janky though :P). It is a bit of a challenge, because by competition rules you are not allowed to change the position and orientation of the start, checkpoints and finish, but still I got some ideas
And about shortcuts: I'm aware of them on the first stage, but my testing of them resulted in a worse time than proper normal route, idk, did you make it faster with them?
