Cons :
- Walking in this game gave me a headache : the camera screen ghost detection device is shaking toooooo much from up to down and reversevly. I didnt understood the purpose of this device, it seems like more an optional mechanic wereas it is taking so much place on the screen like a primary one it is mealeading its mechanical priority of the player. It was frustrating to not being able to see corctly what I have in front of me, the screen on the device is too small to be correctly used and the device is taking too much place on the screen to corectly use the player vision to overcome enemuies. This is a pity :'(
- No clear of what to do at one point there is a steel where my character sayed "i know how to stop this portal" smthg like these, but me, the player, got no info in game so i felt very lost => Contrast between character and player not having the same info is bad
- Didn't understood the utilisy of a fear bar, i think it is punishing the player for nothing when killing to much ghost to escape death, for example I was stuck on a wall surrounded by a lot of ghosts, and if i wasnt using the devic to kill them i will be dead, so i dead and i'm punished with view decresed
- Ghost pops out everywhere and you gett touched without being warned. They go threw the floor so it's unpredictable
- Not clear perception of the goal: i knew what to do, search a special book to end the portal, but i searched everywhere after a special book with this damn device shaking on my screen and taking akl the place making so much harder for my eyeys to identify visualy the books that looked all the same for me so this leaded me to left the game with high frustration
- Little bug where i was abble to pass threw wall and to be out of the house ! i saw a lentern flying in the sky haha :)
- Didn't find how the game fit the theme
Pros:
- Visual are incredible, the VFX, Post process/shaders (if there was) the brightness, the models where all looking interesting and professional. You can really ship a game on steam with this level of visuals that attract players, this is higly impressive I wasn't exepting such level in such a game jam, reaaally well done !
- Good music and overall SFX that serves the game as intended !
- I really was surprised by the voice acting and i found it adding a good atmosphere to the overall game ! Even if, on my opinio, i found the voic acting not great, the intention is here so next time improve yiour voice acting (there is multiples youtube video that can help on that, search also about theater stuff linked to it can help to know how to get better to this point
To conclude, i will say that you have really to pay attention to what the player will do the most in your game to make it the most pleasant and engaging possible but here, on my very personal opinion, i find it the most frustated possible to the point i got a headache lol. And i found a pity beceaus of the visual i really wanted to give a chance to this game but i wasn't able to finish it so sorry :'(
Also please next try to put a more interesting design intention on your game to build an engaging experience for the player . I wanna mean with this for example i didnt get the intention to add this screen ghost detection device that seemed so much like an optional mechanics you forced to be used like a main one beceaus i founded myself searching a key in the keyboard to store in my pocket this device but i can't. I hope you got what i mean :)But despite that, i felt like you had a real atmosphere intention, which should works well if we pout the shaking of the screen device problem i got, with the effort you put on the visual and decoration, the voice acting, etc. Really you are on the right way on this side keep moving forward there !
But to terminate on a positive note, i think if you know the bad sides you have to work on, and be good ad it, you will make incredible games with the visuals you have already at high level point (which is hard and may take years to achieve to this level) and this is encouraging so don't be hurt with what I say => Pleas don't take personaly the bad sides i pointed but more professionaly, like a proposal of improvment
I know how game development is really hard, and i see a clear potential on your work so congratulations for having made this and go further next time ! :D
