I am making progress I'm about weeks at most of the next update, I have to say, the game is pretty much alive, also is a free game, and I don't have any patrons so don't worry I'm not scamming anyone, thanks for your concern.  I bet your intentions are all good.

(-1)

Well, it's good that you don't have a Patreon. ALL of my intentions good? Not even remotely!

However, since there are roughly 10,000 scammers on Patreon for every legit developer, I am definitely suspicious of devs that pop up once a year with empty promises, but no actual content.

And, if you DID have a Patreon collecting funds, but only updating the content every couple of years, well then the game wouldn't TRULY be free, would it? These things ARE worth investigating, especially since most devs get very defensive when discussing the monthly subsidies to their life.

Furthermore, can you fault my suspicion? 254 days worth of radio silence, only to tell me the same thing you said 255 days ago. Not exactly confidence inspiring.

Your game sounded interesting, right up until it became clear that my life expectancy is less than your ETA to completion of the next update!

But, taking you at your word, you're not a scammer. It's free. Take 25 years to finish it. But who the fuck is gonna be sitting around waiting to see how it turns out? If you want people to be passionate about your product, then YOU need some passion for it too, and THAT is what is missing from this project.

It's not just about passion; time and money are crucial. I need to earn a living, so while I love making this game, time is a luxury. I can't speak for others, but having Patrons would allow me to dedicate more time to development and less to my day job.

(-2)

The problem with that is that once a developer gets some Patrons, the the development becomes an actual obligation.

"Hey, dev, wanna go fishing?"

"Sorry, but I gotta work on the game."

"Hey bro, coming to my wedding?"

"Sorry sis, but I'm 3 weeks late with my update, I gotta get it done."

So many devs forget that there are commitments involved with subscription style development. They treat the money like it was found in a wallet on the subway.

I get needing to make money. I have been an RN over 30 years. Missed Christmases, Easters, Birthdays, funerals, weddings, weekend trips because I had to work. I wish that I could have waited for every problem in MY life go away before I had to save those lives!!!

But in that case, your silence is your biggest enemy. People are pretty forgiving if you are sincere. But silence equals scam, not sincerity. And you certainly seem decent and articulate enough.

I do have a subscrestar, but I haven't gained any subscribers mainly because I haven't promoted the game or the subscription site. so you can call it a neverending circle. so I have no other choice but to work on the game when I have free time, and it is my passion, and I love it.

You know what? You didn't have to admit that. That's a level of integrity that I can respect.
