Oh Oh Oh! I'm glad you liked the water!!! We also wanted to include ripples on the surface, as to add more perceived volume, but unfortunately that didn't pan out.
Kley made wonderful water in Don't Starve, I looked at this game when trying to understand how all of this should/could work. In Don't Starve Together there're used simple textures and ripples; in Don't Starve: Shipwrecked could be found more complex textures and solutions (water wise, at least). Do recommend checking both games out for some amazing problem solving!
