Update Ideas by Deadshot - Chapter l: Shields

(yes im bored...)

As a counterpart to melees, shields could be added to stop melee spammers (😫) and they would fit the medieval theme really nice!


To make them as balanced as possible, I thought of a few things for the balancing:

- High protection against any melee weapons (40%-80% protection depending on what shield you use)

- A bit of protection against bows, I'm thinking maybe 10%-25% so it isnt too op

- You are slower with the shield, but some shields have the speed stat which can boost your movement while blocking the shield

- Maybe a bit of protection against the stun stat also

For equipping a shield I have 2 ideas:

Idea 1: You can choose between a melee weapon or a shield depending on your playstyle (in that case shields would be a bit stronger)

Idea 2: You can have a melee and a shield at the same time, adding another "switch button". (In that case shield would be weaker)

To block, all you have to do is get out your shield like you would do for a melee weapon and then press the attack button to block. Only then it'll block damage.

Of course they only block damage that is coming from the side your looking at with it.


The different shields:

There would be shields for  different prices from Ad to 59.999 coins.
 So basically one shield for every outfit (knight, king, ninja, fearless)

I won't design every shield here but i already have a fearless shield, which i designed a few months ago:



Just imagine that for the different outfits.

if I’m being honest I dont see the appeal to shields. I feel like the main argument is that the main types of medieval weapon are shields bows and melee. For me at least, N1 is supposed to be an offensive game (We don’t talk abt dmg prot) so shields would honestly ruin it. I feel like melee spammers would just use it to take less dmg from arrows, since neither seem to need any skill to be viable. I feel like if there was a dash mechanic for shields or smth like that it would be cool. I think if shields are implemented there should be multiple types like how there are multiple types of melees for doing different things
