If it says: "Mac could not check for malware", go to system settings then privacy & security then scroll down until you see a part called "security. there should be the name of the app and just click "Open anyway". Hope it helps!
actually this is all it said [i had already done your method for various games in the past and it worked for them, but this time around i can't even reach the point of getting that specific error. this is also a freshly downloaded copy so it should be up to date [i assume]]
