After you download, you're gonna want to right click the zipped folder and hit 'extract all.'
Then, double click on the 'executable' folder and finish off by double clicking on 'CatCompanion' - make sure you're clicking the one that says 'Application' under the 'Type' section
That sucks ): I'd say take a look at the discord as a last ditch effort.
Also, check my comment above- there's a more recent updated version there that I linked. This one here may have downloaded for me, but I still had an issue afterwards. The version on discord may be your answer
