I’m really not into any of the kinks displayed here. Like, at all. Most of the time I was pretty squicked.

But the actual story and puzzle-solving was pretty damn engaging.

At some point I knew there was nothing coming that’d leave me satisfied. Just different levels of despair and discontentment. But I still wanted to see it all. I had to know the full shape of it before I could put it down.

(That said, it would’ve been nice to have something in-game to help me track what endings I’ve gotten through, but I just kept notes when I realized there wasn’t.)

SPOILERS BELOW:

The only thing that really frustrated me was the Mahjong sequence. The questions are opaque enough to someone who doesn’t know the game that I had no idea what was even being asked most of the time, even after doing some research to try to wrap my head around it. Hell, I still don’t know why most of the right answers were right. …It didn’t help that it led to what I found the least satisfying ending. Though I guess the irony of getting the least satisfaction out of outright “defeating” the villain is pretty exquisite.
