The issue is that in many visual novels or dating sims, you don't even see your character. Just the fact that this game allows you to customize your character and doesn't give you the option to change skin color—and personally, I do not like that I cannot choose other hairstyles—is upsetting. This would be discriminatory to lighter-skinned people.
This is a dating sim where the desc even says "You arrive at the town of Longhope" so it is or make more options for skin colors and such or outright place a blank character (gray person or silhouette with Y/N)
And you brought up other games with white characters that represents your character- would you refer to these? (and if its possible do not reference asian visual novels since they do it because most of its player base are light-skinned) refer to some visual novels or dating sims that do insert your character- since there are a few that do not insert the characters from the players and instead insert an OC from the creator itself.
Conclusion if you have an idea comply with it to its fullest and do not cut it short- Add more customization.
