Malware warning on virustotal for your mediafire file.
Hello. What version? Android or pc? Other cloud storage also with virus notification according to VirusTotal service? You can check through this service only url because the file more than 650Mb you can not upload to this service, I wonder what algorithms this service checks for viruses? On all cloud storages the same game file. If you do not trust the links I have added a few on purpose so that everyone can use what he likes. Huh , for the sake of interest I performed your procedures on this service. You check viruses by Url which is very interesting, the same file uploaded to different cloud storages gives different results, the most interesting thing is that the same game file on google does not show any activity through Virustotal service. Personally say that all the files that are uploaded do not differ in any way, from those that are at me. With the exception of third-party sites distributors, but there I am no longer involved as no one else.
It was the pc version, your google drive one is also flagged as malicious. At that point I just stopped trying to download the game entirely.
The link I am scanning is the download itself. I start the download on the file, pause it, then "copy download link" next to the download in chrome and upload that link to scan on virustotal.
I can also provide the link to both if you would like, I don't know if I am allowed to comment the link.
Just ask yourself the question. How did Virustotal check a file over 650mb according to their limit if it weighs over 2gb? So it can't check the file, it can only check the path to the file, which is what the url system finds the path to the file. But it cannot check the file itself in this case because they have a 650mb limit. What is the reason for developers to put viruses on their files, I don't think we are suicidal or masochistic to do that.
I have downloaded MANY games from here and f95 with no issues. If I see a file is flagged as malicious on virustotal. I do not continue downloading the file. Your discord has 9 total members and your patreon has 4 paid members yet many 5 star reviews. Apologies if I seem a little suspicious...
As a consumer I am trying to keep myself safe the only ways I know how.
I am not technically literate enough to analyze these files so I use a virustotal as a screening, its possible it is not 100% accurate but I would trust its readings 9 times out of 10. (regardless of the 650mb file size limitation....)
Here is your google version (PC)
And here is your Mediafire version (PC)
I hope you can understand my point of view as a consumer, I do not wish to diminish your livelihood or your career in game development.
I appreciate and genuinely am happy you responded and also are confused by this, hopefully we can resolve the issue if its on the file host's side such as google or mediafire.
When the game project weighed less than 1gb, it could be uploaded to itchio and the android version was initially uploaded to itchio storage, but now you need to get permission from itchio for them to personally increase this limit for me. The game will only grow in size and every time to write to the management of itchio that they still increase the limit tedious process agree. The choice goes to cloud storage, the well-known MEGA also has a negative result according to VirusTotal. You say you downloaded a lot of games from here, from external links or from itchio itself? I just checked some other developers from itchio site via VirusTotal and they have the same results as on your screenshots. And they don't have 9 people in Discord and Patreon, they are quite reputable developers. You can check other developers yourself if you have time. Personally, I understand everything with Virustotal service and it is not the best solution for files over 650mb. I also understand that you care about software security, but that's what antiviruses installed on your PC are for. I am a beginner developer and the project is also in its early stages , or did you expect to have 100000 in discord or patreon at the beginning ahah , it doesn't work like that. In this situation I can only tell you to wait for a steem version of this game, which will be obviously not soon, or download the file itself, and check the file itself through your personal antivirus before opening something, not the path to it.
I would also like to add something about VirusTotal.
Direct link from itchio to googledrive to file preview mode. Scanning through Virustotal, it says everything is ok.
Go further by clicking download, exit the preview mode, scan again through Virustotal, and then you send me your screenshot, what do we see? That there's something wrong in his opinion. Isn't that weird?
Or does google preview mode make a difference? You can look at the link url code itself that it is the same. In general, Virustotal has more questions than answers, but it's up to you. It's just a strange logic to check, don't you think?
