Hey! I played the game some time ago so I'll go check what i did so i can like tell you but i know it probably has something to do with the decisions before D is leaving 

I just checked it and I don't have a safe before D left so i may tell you how to do that later since I'm going to replay D's route from the start

 saw this post that guided me for options past chapter four and this one for before that. i just tried to push our forbidden romance basically. D briefly feels unsteady in ch8 w/ the nobles but we reassure them when we talk to them next.

Hi! Can't go to the specifics as the author discourages guides and such to fully experience the game. But the way it works is to get to know the RO, basically respect their boundaries, and fulfill your role as the Crown thst mostly aligns with how the RO views it.

For D, what mostly works is to choose options that respect their sense of duty, but with a balance of showing interest beyond them being your general. I hope you find this helpful, even though it's vague.
