Okay, so I'm taking the two endings as... in one, they've said things to each other that were coded as "bad" (though maybe that's oversimplifying) so they ended up accumulating emotional wounds and destroying each other while the town remains untouched. In the other route, they say "good/honest" things to each other, and are therefore stronger and able to punish the town for what it did to them. That might be literal, as in they murdered the whole town of lame r**ists, transphobes and bystanders, or it could be a metaphorical way of showing that they internalized that the abuse/harassment was not their fault. Or maybe I'm completely wrong, no idea :D this feels like an "up to interpretation" type story.
