I want to make a recommendation that you likely haven't heard before. It's a game called Raging Loop. The gist of it is that our protagonist (one of my favorite protagonists in any piece of fiction, you'll get what I mean if you play it) gets lost in the woods and is forced to spend the night in a village located in the middle of nowhere. This village however is then struck by a thick mist and people start dying. I can't say a lot more without getting into spoiler territory, but to make it short, there's a small lovable cast, class trial-like scenarios where people choose who to kill off and deaths galore. Also you can make choices to influence the story (though there's only one true end - the rest are bad endings) and has probably one of the niftiest applications of a flowchart in any game I've seen. Highly recommend.
