I actually found the menu after commenting but by the time I found it I had already started a new playthrough, without experiencing it again. No idea what caused it. And this was on my laptop, so no emulators. (Sorry if I wasn't helpfull).
thanks for the report, sometimes bugs like these just pop up and I honestly have no idea why. glad it resolved itself this time though
