I believe that the reset is needed in order for the stat management to not be redundant. The dev has stated he wants to make the game *hard* (which hes already done a spectacular job on btw). The loop of the game is explore, get stuck, brute force/eureka, get dopamine.
Cloud has mentioned they have over 100 hours in the game and still do not know every little bit. The game is DEEP, and without the resets it would be much shorter and imo much less satisfying.
