I'm not normally a fan of jump scare style games, not because of the jump scares but because they often lack depth.

You're game however is a classic case of "Don't judge a book by its cover."

After the first stage I was surprised that there was more to do, and that the first stage was more an introduction to the story rather than the limit of the game.  I think that this depth and the surprise are what make it interesting and engaging.
