So my relationship with this game goes like "HATE" -> "LOVE" -> "HATE".
I am gonna give the reasoning for that. So the game starts, I see I am on this train of platforms that are heading somewhere. And there some collisions which I see cause you to jump from platform to platform. So I HOP my way to safety for this level. Levels go on, complexity increases. A lot of deaths. The momentum system doesn't help. The first-person view that doesn't allow you to see where your feet are landing doesn't help. The fact that there aren't any extra frames (a few few frames after you leave a platform but jumping is still enabled) to allow for better jumping doesn't help, leading to moments where I simply run OFF the platform.
I reach a level where platforms are going LEFT and RIGHT, like a street, you know. I am like this is too much for short hopping. What if I try to simply skip the next platform and try to jump onto the one that is already there ie the one in next to next lane. I hold shift and hold space, and instead of a hop, it was a HULK JUMP. See, this was not written anywhere, and I psuedo realistic styled first person view did not prime me to expect such a long jump thing. So I jumped long, and I was soaring over so many platforms. It changed the whole gameplay, for the BETTER.
UNTIL, I reached that level with portals in the corner that you have to jump into, and they throw you onto other platforms. See, the issue is, a lot of these portals do not seem to be placed high enough, that if the platform moves out of the way you don't have time to adjust your trajectory. The first portal-OUT is especially low. And after some 40 or so attempts I think, I was like, I quit.
See, if this game didn't frustrate the hell out of me a few times na, I would have said that this is a topclass showcase worthy game. But right now, it is just a decent game, as the negatives of the bad experiences weigh too heavily against it's positives. This one needs some more playtesting. Doing so and improving it will make it masterclass stuff.
Good luck.
