[SUMMARY] πŸ“Š

Journey of a Black Hole is an agar.io inspired game and a nice entry to the Brackeys Game Jam.

I did not reach the win state, because I have more reviews to write and I got stuck when my star was big enough to be eaten by red rogue stars.

[GAME DESIGN] 🎲

  • The Good: Good premise, it works and it's intuitive to learn. The light speed mechanic is good.
  • The Bad: There are some rogue red stars that kill you instantly even on the easiest difficuly setting.
  • My AdviceBalance and playtest early! Everytime you can, build and send the game to family and friends (or the game jam discord) and gather their feedback. Build often!

[FUN] 🀣

  • The Good: Satisfying to see your star grow!
  • The Bad: A bit boring at the start.
  • My Advice: Same as above!

[INNOVATION] πŸ’‘

  • The Good: A star that moves and the years count on the bottom left are very original ideas!
  • The Bad: A bit derivative. Too similar to agar.io.
  • My Advice: Try and make your game yours! Twist the mechanics a bit.

[THEME]πŸ“–

  • The Good: A black hole! What else can I say?
  • The Bad: -
  • My Advice: Maybe don't go with the obvious. An original approach to the theme can help you on Game Design as well as on the Innovation category.

[GRAPHICS]🎨

  • The Good: Consistent and well done. Nice menus!
  • The Bad: Could use some more polish!
  • My Advice: You can modify Post Processing on runtime to achieve cool effects!

[FINAL RATING]  πŸ₯‡

Overall, a good entry to the jam. Good theme use and nice graphics. The Innovation and Fun could get some love.
