What a game! It reminded me in some ways of Crawl in both the aesthetic and the combat. I loved the visuals and atmosphere, and even more than that, I enjoyed seeing new mechanics as rewards after each level.
The twist at the end was nice, even though I died and didn’t get to see the rest of the story. The shadow revealing itself on the "monster" is a clever way to fit the theme. Great job, this is a well-designed gam, I had a lot of fun playing it!
