At first, I wanted to write dialogue for your character to go through and have it just be a character but then...I thought about the character being actually mute or too shy to say anything and just sort of motioning with their hands and I thought that would be a really neat way to do the silent protag and also sort of allow the player to imagine how they would emote the situation themselves through vague gestures.
