No no, these are perfectly valid questions, and people ask them all the time.

  1. No, a project is only placed at the top of the new releases list when it's first made public. Until then, no problem.
  2. It makes sense to have a (public) project page before release, because you can use it to post devlogs and media, and have a conversation with potential fans.
  3. Probably Restricted, with a password that you only give to select people.

Thanks! That helps a lot. One clarification: Does Public Restricted place the game on the new releases list? And if so, will the page also appear on that list when I later switch to the Public, unrestricted option?

Restricted isn't Public, they're different options. Edit: in fact I moved a couple projects from Public to Restricted and back once, and they counted as newly published on return, so.
