(Admittedly the clue in that room (the sign) is very vague but it is essentially telling you to remember something that's there) I'll tell you explicitly below so pause reading here if you still wanna figure it out! ;)

At the beginning of the Museum there is another circle of candles, all lit. Unlike the candles in the smaller room, these can be extinguished by August. If you extinguish certain ones so that they match the pattern in the other room, you will be able to proceed!
