Hi Off,
Congratulations on your first game! That’s a very difficult thing to do. Here’s my feedback:
- I understand you have a specific colorscheme you are using, but I’d prefer to see the main character be a color that sticks out. Just by watching the trailer, it took me a few seconds to find who is the user. This is at least for the pink-shaded stages.
- I’d prefer to see the character be animating based on the user’s movement. It could be something as simple as rotating the sprite as the user moves left or right, and it would make the character feel more “interactive”.
- It would be better if the collectibles were counted downwards as you collect them. As in when you start the stage, the collectibles in the UI will have the number
5
, and once you collect one, it will drop to4
and so on. This way that number actually means something to the user. - This is a little bit of nitpicking, but currently the maps have irregular edges and sizes, which makes them look low quality. They’d look much better if the whole map was following a square grid, and all parts of the map followed that. The grid doesn’t have to be visible, but it will make the map look more structured.
Although you didn’t ask for feedback for the game’s page, I have only one comment:
- Please flag downloadable files for the platform they are meant for. Users won’t know if this game is available for Linux or Windows or Web otherwise.
Hope this helps :)
