I love games like this. The fantasy theme is great, and I love the art. However, I would've liked the text in the UI to not have such a basic font. I think using a different readable font that fit the fantasy theme would've helped it some, but that's just a minor nitpick.

The first thing I thought when I loaded into the game was "this game has no in-game tutorial". I tried to figure things out without checking the controls on the page because I like to give reviews based entirely off of my in-game experience. However, I got bored of spamming left click to kill an enemy with 15-20 hits multiple times. I feel like the number of hits it took to kill enemies dragged the game out unnecessarily longer than it needed to be. I think it would've been better to have a shorter game and have enemies feel better by killing them faster.

I didn't know I could cycle through spells with Q until the room before the final boss (when I finally looked at the controls on the page) and by that point I was mostly playing just to finish. But, it did get more fun when I had more control over what spell I wanted to use. Thinking about getting a random spell, I know the theme is "out of control" and I wonder "is that fun?" For me, it wasn't until I realized I could cycle through spells because I just felt like I was clicking for the sake of finishing the game and using spells just to finish faster, but the latter problem went away when I started cycling spells. I think the focus of the game should've been on using spells to make the player feel like an action-packed wizard badass. But as of now, there's a lot of downtime between casting each spell, which makes it an action game about how fast you can left click to kill things. I think killing enemies should help regenerate mana faster, or just have the passive regen be faster.

Overall, I really wanted to enjoy the combat, but the time it took to kill the enemies, the soreness in my index finger from spamming left click, and lack of in-game tutorial took away from it. That being said, once I knew all of the controls, it was very fun to dash around swapping spells killing things. I just wish I could kill enemies quicker, use spells more often, and knew I could cycle through spells before I got so late into the game.

Thanks for the compliments!

Yeah, having an in game tutorial would have been better, we didn't even consider it, thinking just putting the controls in the game page would be enough. Thanks for the great feedback! We might remake the game after the jam, so all feedback is helpful!
