There should be a timer on top of the screen like it is shown in one of the screenshots, so maybe there was some issue with the UI. Nonetheless thanks for the comment :)
the UI bug could be because my monitor is 21:9 aspect ratio and not the normal 16:9
Indeed, on 21:9 the timer is perfectly cut out of the screen. Looks like more testing is needed next time :D Thanks again and have a good day :)
