Another blast from the past! I used to love playing pick-up-sticks but there's no chance kids these days are still playing the old crazes when they get an screens shoved in their face before they've learned to walk.
I would have loved if it was more like the traditional game in a 'surgeon sim' style of precision but I think that would have been a lot of work on the physics side as oppose to point and click and may be too much of an undertaking for a 1 week jam.
There's definitely some bugs to iron out such as:
Based on the camera angle and all others I checked around it, there is no way that blue one should result in a game over but it does and this is a frequent occurrence where sticks look like they are next to each other and not touching but still sends the other one flying.
Which leads me into my next point.... the camera.
I definitely would have focused on the camera a lot more, I don't like this far away view. I want to be able to get in there and rotate around so I don't lose in situations that make me go 'really?' like that blue one.
Despite all that, its a fun little game and I enjoyed playing it. I'm not so sure about it being 'rewind' as oppose to 'pick up' but I'll let that slide if it means I get more digital versions of things I played with in the 90s.
Hi, first of all i really appreciate your detailed feedback, observation and review and yes i agree from all the points that is given and i get your point because this is a truly awesome game from way way way back hahaha and ofcourse you wanted it to be as flawless as possible just like the real physical pick up sticks game. i like your suggestions about traditional game in a surgeon sim style of precision just thinking about it seems to be a superb idea that every one might really enjoy playing and i agree that this kind of physics game needs a really precise adjustment based on real physics to be fair and more predictable. and then the rewind here is how the sticks go back to the top again. what happen is from the top all the sticks movement is recorded and then it stops recording when no more movement is detected. but i agree again it's hard to memorize those movements. again thank your for your feedback :)
