I really like this game. The first hurdle I can't overcome is starvation. Food is not something I can readily farm; I have to explore first which is REALLY slow when you are starving, even using the 50% boost thing.
Where exactly are you in research that you're having trouble keeping enough food? Hunting small game for meat and cooking it should allow you to stabalize.
